Ten new permanent specialist positions to be filled at Corfu Hospital

CORFU. Publication of the Ministerial Decision for the employment of another 902 permanent doctors in the National Health Service (ESY).

The 6th Regional Health Administration has allocated Corfu Hospital with10 new positions for doctors (out of a total of 149 for 26 hospitals) - the highest number in the region.

According to the hospital administration, this is "practical proof that the Regional Health Administration understands the needs of the hospital and the need for more permanent doctors. It is clear that it aims to compensate for the lack of personnel prior to 2015 compared to mainland Greece."

The following positions for Corfu Hospital have been advertised:

1 Paediatric Consultant (to establish a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
1 Kidney Specialist (taking the total to 3 permanent Kidney Specialists)
1 Child Psychiatrist (with the aim of establishing a Child Psychiatry Clinic)
2 Surgeons
1 Hematologist
2 Neorologists
1 Medical Biopathologist
1 Neurosurgeon


Applications can be submitted electronically at esydoctors.moh.gov.gr from 12:00 on 11 June to 12:00 on 1 July. The process is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2020.

The hospital administration has said that 3 permanent doctors' positions will also be readvertised shortly. "With these new positions plus the 12 that have been advertised in the last year - the results of which are expected shortly - the hospital will have a total of 22 new permanent doctors in the near future.

At the moment there are 101 specialist doctors (70% of the hospital's needs). This will now increase to 123 - bearing in mind that 3 years ago the total was just 79."
