New trees being planted to replace those that were cut down in Alexandras Ave.

There will then follow tree-planting in other parts of the town including Methodiou St., I. Theotoki St., Upper Square and the neighbouring shore road and Garitsa park - approximately 100 trees in total.

Corfu Municipal Green Maintenance Service is restoring greenery in central parts of the town for both environmental and aesthetic reasons. The Service will then proceed to remove the roots and other remains from the old trees still in the ground - next to which the new trees are being planted.

According to the Deputy Mayor for Green Services Spyros Aspiotis, the work started last year, continued this year and will go on for as long as is needed at various spots in the town. The work is necessary due to the deterioration of the old trees - leading to danger for passersby.
