Concession of seafront to Municipality of Corfu announced in Government Gazette

CORFU. The concession for the seafront zone from Cafe Yiali to Anemomylos will be granted to the Municipality.
The Mayor of Corfu Kostas Nikolouzos announced to the media this morning that the declassification of Corfu Town seafront as a Port Zone has been published in the Government Gazette.
The first phase of transferring responsibility for the seafront zone to Corfu Municipality has now been completed. The concession covers the seafront from the lighthouse at Cafe Yiali, including the New Fortress Square (not the marina), to Anemomylos.
Kostas Pavlidis: A long-standing demand from the local community has been satisfied
Corfu SYRIZA MP Kostas Pavlidis made the following statement: "This is, of course, a significant development vindicating the great efforts that have been made. This is a result for the local authority and local community following efforts that had to overcome many subjective and objective obstacles.
The committments that the Prime Minister made at the Development Conference in Corfu just 12 months ago have been fulfilled - conceding the seafront zone to the local community and the Municipality of Corfu. Now a comprehensive development plan is required to develop the seafront so that it can provide greater quality for the everyday life of locals and for tourism.
With the publication in the Government Gazette the first phase of the procedure has now been officially completed. We are now in the second and final phase of the concession of the seafront to Corfu Municipality and the local community, which will be completed very soon."
