CORFU. The President of the Hunting Association Giorgos Mavropoulos announced that a man hunting illegally had been arrested in the Gazatika area ...with angry reactions!
Wardens from the 5th Hunting Federation (Korakianitis and Graikos) had been patrolling along with Spyros Barbas and Mr. Haralampopoulos from the Forestry Commission and spotted the illegal hunter at a woodcock trap.
Their statement says that he "refused to cooperate with us, tried to get away and threatened the lives of the aforementioned". Consequently, the police were called (Palaiokastritsa police station). With difficulty they saw his identification and then the police and the Forestry Commission pressed charges against him (illegal hunting, hunting near to residences, resisting the authorities, insubordination, issuing threats).
He will also face the disciplinary committee of the Hunting Association regarding his possible expulsion.
