Corfu΄s first community composting point to open in Kanoni

CORFU. Official opening on Friday 16 November at 16:30.
The first Corfu community composting point - for the Kanoni district - will be opened by Corfu Mayor Kostas Nikolouzos on Friday 16 November at 16:30. The compost point is located in the Vassilaki Estate next to the Municipal greenhouses.
This ambitious project aims to raise the awareness of the public regarding the composting process and was initiated by the volunteer group Corfu Compost Project.
The compost point project has come about as a result of collaboration between Corfu Municipality, the Green Maintenance Department - which is responsible for the Municipal greenhouses - Kanoni Cultural Society and Corfu Compost Project.
At the opening there will be a presentation on how the programme will work for local residents interested in participating. These residents will be registered in a catalogue, attend educational seminars and then bring their organic waste to be deposited at the compost point.
