Strong earthquake in Zakynthos

ZAKYNTHOS. Estimated at 6.7 Richter, the earthquake occurred at 01:54 early this morning. The epicentre was 42km southwest of Zakynthos with a depth of 10km.
The earthquake was felt as far away as the Western Peloponnese, Patra, Kalamata and even Athens, causing concern to the residents there.
Local residents rushed out into the streets. According to Lefkadatoday: "All vehicles have been removed from Zakynthos Port as the earthquake caused subsidence there. At Agios Sostis port, which is nearer to the epicentre, damage was caused to the jetty. The monastery of Agios Dionysis on the uninhabited island of Strofadia near to Zakynthos was destroyed.
There were several aftershocks with the same epicentre and brief power cuts but power has been restored."
