Fire in Rachtades

CORFU. Fire broke out in Rachtades in North Corfu at about 2pm today.
Firefighters have gone to the scene and are working alongside volunteers. The two PZL firefighting planes have also been called out. According to the latest information, two Canadair aircraft have also been called out.

The President of the local council Kostas Armenis told Enimerosi that the fire is strong and is close to a residential area. The Civil Protection Dept. has been contacted to get guidelines in case there needs to be an evacuation.
The location of the fire is 10 - 15km from Sidari and Acharavi and the smoke can be clearly seen from the coast.
