2nd Corfu Half Marathon postponed due to "local problems"
CORFU. It was announced that the proper quality of organization could not be guaranteed.
"The organization of Corfu Half Marathon is deeply sorry to announce the postponement of the 2nd Corfu Half Marathon, which was to take place on 23 of September 2018, for 2019.
Kindly, we ask for your understanding and we would like to thank all runners who were willing to participate in our Event, but serious local problems and the delay caused, cannot guarantee the high quality level of our athletic event and that is the reason why the registrations did not open as well.
As Corfu Half Marathon and its parallel races take place on a public road, success depends on numerous factors. Therefore, Corfu Half Marathon took the difficult decision to postpone the 2018 Event because in any case the Organization do not want to degrade the experience of its runners, especially as the event in its first year set its athletic and technical characteristics in a very high level- to go for anything less would be unfair both for the participants and for the island of Corfu which deserves to have a great athletic event.
We look forward to your participation under different – better conditions in 2019.
The decision to postpone the event was taken jointly with the Municipality of Corfu and KERKYRAIKOS Sports Club."
