International Festival of Modern Dance ΄one small step΄ returns to Corfu

CORFU. For 2 weeks there will be a dance atmosphere in Corfu. Dance lovers will enjoy a unique experience with free performances, seminars, activities and artists from well-known international groups.
For the 9th successive year the International Dance Festival 'one small step' will be taking place in Corfu, allowing artists and spectators to let themselves go in the rhythm and energy of dance.
From 23 July to 4 August Corfu Town will be turned into a meeting point and platform for the exchange and expression of ideas. During the Festival there will be a variety of free performances from Greek and international artists as well as modern dance seminars.
Yet again there will be an opportunity for selected dancers to work with distinguished choreographers and appear on stage in the performance project.
'one small step' has invited artists from well-known modern dance groups to present their work and to choreograph for the festival.
The groups include:
Batsheva, Eastman (Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui), Hofesh Shechter Company, Ultima Vez, Johannes Wieland and others.
The following will perform and present free seminars and master classes:
Helder Seabra, Rachel Osborne, Ian Robinson, Sita Ostheimer, Christina Mertzani, Evaggelos Poulinas, Lucio Baglivo, Victoria P. Miranda, Tracy Wong, Mao Wei
The festival makes use of streets, squares and buildings of architectural interest in order to broaden the approach of modern dance and showcase public spaces as being the ideal place for modern artistic creativity.
'one small step' is awarding scholarships
In collaboration with the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, Austria and the professional school SOZO visions in motion in Germany, 'one small step' is awarding 3 scholarships for top students to take part in performance projects and modern dance techniques.
In collaboration with Kalamata International Dance Festival, it is awarding a scholarship for seminar attendees to participate in seminars in Corfu.
A scholarship is being awarded to one student from each of 14 amateur schools and dance studios in Corfu to attend one of the 'one small step' seminars.
'one small step' is promoting the island of Corfu
'one small step' is promoting the island of Corfu by combining artistic, cultural, sport and tourism activities. Our programme includes guided tours of archaeological sites, excursions to sites of natural beauty as well as sports activities.
