Corfu Port full - 7 cruise ships with 13,000 passengers!

With seven cruise ships in port today it doesn't take special powers of intuition to predict that the streets in Corfu Town will be packed! What with one thing and another, however, we're getting used to the streets being full.

The Municipal Committee for Quality of Life recently decided by majority vote to allow another tourist train to operate in town, adding to the everyday chaos on the Corfu roads - suggesting that the name of the committee is actually a euphemism. There was an immediate reaction from the horse and carriage owners, who asked to meet with the Mayor whilst others who heard of the report reacted with wry amusement.





The President of the Committee, Deputy Mayor Aris Balis, confirmed the decision and said that the Committee is obliged to give equal weight to all the applications. He added that it goes without saying that there needs to be an overall solution to the traffic problem in the town and that few would disagree with that, especially when they aren't responsibile for the municipal administration of the issue.
