CORFU. They were working for a few days - and then went off again.
It seems hard to believe, but the traffic lights at Kontokali junction are yet again not working. Enimerosi first wrote about this about a month ago, pointing out the dangers for drivers and pedestrians alike.
After 'going out' just after Easter - leaving everyone to look after themselves at this busy spot - they started working for about 2 weeks in May, before going off again three days ago.
However, there are more tourists and a significant increase in traffic on Eth. Palaiokastritsas Rd, which is the main road to the north, and the roads to Kontokali and Gouvia Marina. Drivers - especially visitors - who aren't familiar with the area are forced into making dangerous turns and ...the best of luck!
Pitch darkness
Things become even more dangerous at night as the street lighting isn't working either and the area is pitch dark. Pedestrians, cars, buses, motorcycles, quad bikes and bicycles moving in all directions - with no traffic lights, no street lights, no vision and not even a traffic policeman.
Only the Saint (Spyridon) can save us - but even he has so much to do!
