Refuse collection to resume by order of the government

CORFU. Due to the critical situation and threat to public health.
Refuse collection will resume in Corfu by order of the Government and the responsible ministers so that the situation can get back to normal. It should be noted that the Minister of Justice, Stavros Kontonis, has been in Corfu since Saturday night.
Following the incidents at the Temploni facility, which led to the arrest of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and driver of the refuse truck, local residents have once again pressed charges citing offences against the environmental regulations at Temploni landfill. After the council members and residents had given statements, they were allowed to leave the police headquarters this afternoon and they will appear at a hearing on Tuesday 22nd May at 12:00.
Meanwhile, due to the critical nature of the situation and the threat to public health, the government has ordered the resumption of refuse collection.
