CORFU. To raise awareness and promote the bicycle as an alternative means of transport which contributes to the quality of life and protection of the environment.
The 'Orthopetalia' and 'Stirixi' Societies co-organized the 11th Pan-Hellenic Bicycle Ride in Corfu in support of their efforts to prevent addiction and AIDS.

The aim of the event was to raise awareness in the local community and encourage people to take action to help promote well-being, education and road safety. They believe that the promotion of the bicycle as an alternative means of transport will contribute to the general quality of life and protection of the environment.
The organizers said, "We are demanding safer conditions for the use of this means of transport in towns and the creation of infrastructure that will allow them to cycle in safety. The aim of this year's Bicycle Ride is to promote Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans which focusses on safe mobility for people and not cars. On a local level we yet again demand cycle lanes and the bicycle hire system."
