CORFU. As part of the 12th Ionian University Audio Visual Arts Festival in Corfu there will be a premiere evening with the British-American film ‘Dominion’ at the Ionian Academy on Saturday 12th May at 21:00.

The film stars John Malkovich, Rhys Ifans, Romola Garai and Rodrigo Santoro and recently won the Best Actor Award (Rhys Ifans) at the Tallinn Film Festival. At the Rio Film Festival it was considered “worthy of an Oscar” and the Hollywood Reporter called it an “amazing” film.

Alternating between scenes of action, passion and comic philosophy, Dominion tells the story of the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and the crazy days on end of partying at the well-known New York artists’ hang-out – White Horse Tavern. The film is dominated by the exceptional Rhys Ifans (Snowdon, Notting Hill) in a riveting performance.

The special premiere will be attended by the film’s director and scriptwriter, Steven Bernstein, as well as the producer, Carolyn Rodney. Following the film, Bernstein will talk about the film and answer questions from the audience.

Bernstein’s latest film is ‘Decoding Annie Parker’, which won the Sloan Award. The internationally-recognized filmmaker is perhaps best known for his Oscar-winning film ‘Monster’ and the TV series ‘Magic City’ along with his work in some the best-known films over the last thirty years.

Bernstein and Rodney have spent the last few years in Greece helping to expand Greek film production and are working to realize their vision of establishing a Permanent Studio and Filmmaking School and the improvement of related tax legislation in Greece.

Income from the screening will go towards the 12th Audio Visual Arts Festival which will take place in Corfu from 29 May to 10 June.
