Biggest US travel agents try the Corfu cuisine

The ASTA Destination Expo 2018 conference is taking place in Athens 14 - 17 April and is the biggest American Travel Agents Destination Expo. Hundreds of US travel agents are expected at the conference, who are travelling to the Greek capital not only to follow the conference but also to meet Greek tourist organizations and professionals. According to the organizers, over 400 representatives from American travel agencies are attending the event which aims to promote Greece as a tourist destination and increase sales for Greek destinations in the American tourism market.

ASTA is one of the largest professional bodies in the world. At the moment it has 8,944 members from 3,586 American companies and agencies and represents 82% of the total travel bookings via travel agencies. It also represents the National
Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA).

Following the conference, from 18 to 22 April,  there will be familiarization trips for the agents in eight Greek destinations, one of which is Corfu.

On Wednesday, the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Vassilis Kavvadias, and HATTA representative, Vassilis Kontos, will welcome them at an event on Mouse Island. On Thursday there will be an event to promote Corfu cuisine at the Chamber of Commerce with the collaboration of SETE (Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises) and Mr. Pittas and on Friday the organizing committee of the Corfu Food and Wine Festival (9 - 13 May) will hold a press conference in Athens.
