CORFU. On his personal page on social media the Director of Corfu General Hospital, Phivos Kakavitsas, wrote that for the first time, all the funds available in the hospital budget are being used.

“The great work being done at Corfu General Hospital over the last 1.5 years can also be clearly seen in the figures.

With the increased funding we have received from the Ministry over the last two years, we have been able to pay off suppliers within two months, thus restoring our image in the local market as a bad payer, which had been due to lack of funding. Beyond this, however, it is significant that we have been able to take up all the funds made available from the state budget.

In 2015 the hospital received 11,904,725 Euros from the state, of which only 10,777,010 was used (90.53%) and 1,127,715 Euros returned to the Treasury. In 2016 the hospital received 12,448,426 Euros from the state, of which 11,751,974 was used (94.41%) and 696,452 Euros returned to the Treasury.

In 2017, however, the hospital received 12,200,698 Euros from the state, of which 12,090,816 was used (99.1%) and 109,882 Euros returned to the Treasury.

Thus we can see that the percentage of funding taken up by Corfu General Hospital has increased from 90.53% in 2015 to 99.1% in 2017 and the actual amount of money spent has increased from 10,770,010 Euros in 2015.”
