CORFU. Police online investigations revealed that the electronic traces led to a home internet connection in Corfu.
Evidence from the NCCEC (National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre), based in Canada, was evaluated before the investigation proceeded. The evidence revealed electronic traces of an internet user using an online application to send child pornography photos.
An order was then issued to lift confidentiality restrictions and from the online police investigation it emerged that the electronic traces led to the home internet connection of the 40-year-old Corfu man.
On 12 December, a legal search of the man’s house by the Cyber Crime Unit along with the local police was able to confirm his involvement in the case and a mobile phone was confiscated.
The confiscated evidence was sent to the forensics department for further investigation and the charge document was sent to the prosecutor.
