CORFU. A 47-year-old man was taken to the Public Prosecutor’s office today, charged with threatening two female students with a knife last Saturday.

Police were able to trace him, following the students’ accusation and wide publicity in the social media. He is residing temporarily in Corfu and has had casual tourism jobs. In 2014 he was accused of rape and was held in custody for 15 months before being found not guilty.

The two students reported that he had threatened them with a cooking knife last Saturday afternoon, but made no attempt to do anything else.  Police sources say that he hasn’t denied the charge, but said that he was just joking with them. The charge just mentions the threat, but when police went to his house they confiscated some pills as well as the knife.
