Ionian Islands at the World Travel Market, London

The London World Travel Market (WTM), the biggest Tourism Exhibition in Europe, opened yesterday and will be the focus for the tourism world over the next three days. The Region of Ionian Islands will be part of the Hellenic Tourist Organization (EOT) stand, represented by Spyros Galiatsatos, Regional Director for Tourism, the mayor of Corfu, Kostas Nikolouzos and other tourism professionals. The EOT stand remains much the same as last year, while the Southern Aegean stand is especially impressive with its gigantic led screens clearly visible from afar.
With more than 180 countries represented and 5,000 exhibitors, WTM is the ideal place to create and develop professional partnerships and get updated with the trends for the current tourist season. Greece is represented yet again this year at the EOT stand, where the Greek regions and other industry professionals are exhibiting their tourist products. According to Elena Kountoura , Greek Minister for Tourism, the first indications for tourism in 2018 are positive. Pre-bookings have already begun for 2018 and so far they have shown a double digit increase.
"Foreign tour operators with whom we are negotiating and closing deals, are boosting their programmes with additional tourist packages and flights to Greece and incorporating new Greek destinations." The Minister of Tourism will be giving a press conference to the international media where she will present Greece's tourism strategy.
