Greek President at Opening of Capodistrias Museum in Corfu

CORFU.The Greek President, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, visited Corfu to open the renovated Capodistrias Museum at the country home of the Ioannis Capodistrias family (first Governor of Modern Greece) in Koukouritsa, Evropoulos.
He was met by the President of the Reading Society, Yiannis Pieris, who gave a welcome speech and there followed a short talk by the President. The government was represented at the event by the Minister of Education, Kostas Gavroglou. The President was given a conducted tour of the Museum by the secretary of the Reading Society, historian Dimitris Zimaris.
Following the opening of the Museum Mr. Pavlopoulos visited Corfu Hospital to meet the volunteers from the voluntary initiative ‘All together for Corfu’ who had completed a tree-planting and landscaping project in the hospital grounds.
In the evening there was a formal dinner at a central hotel in Corfu.
