Another landslide in Paleokastritsa above La Grotta
CORFU. An expert will examine the site right away so the required restoration work can begin.
There was another landslide on Tuesday morning in Paleokastritsa, above La Grotta, leading to an immediate response by authorities.

The incident is causing particular concern, as rockfall protection works had been carried out at the specific location approximately one year ago. Despite these interventions, the ground proved unstable, resulting in the rocks giving way once again and making the area especially dangerous for the passage of vehicles and pedestrians.
From the very first moment, crews from the Regional Authority’s Technical Services rushed to the site, initially aiming to clear the roadway of debris and to quickly reopen the road in order to restore traffic flow.

The Deputy Regional Governor for Technical Services, Giorgos Mamalos, stressed that clearing the area is the immediate priority, but that a permanent solution will be determined following a specialised on-site inspection.
“The site will be examined promptly by an expert in order to assess the extent of the damage and proceed with the necessary restoration works, ensuring that the phenomenon does not recur.”
