CORFU. A new contract with the contractor is also expected for the restoration of the Bastion of the Six Winds.
The report on the partial collapse of the Bastion of the Six Winds, along with assurances from the Ephorate of Antiquities that it would be restored as part of the ongoing works at the Bastion of the Seven Winds in the New Fortress, has sparked reactions.
Critics pointed out that the current project, which is due to be completed within days, does not provide for any extension of works, nor does it impose any contractual obligation on the contractor to undertake additional restoration.
Sources at the Ministry, which received these objections, insist that a clear directive will be issued for the restoration of the bastion damaged by the recent rains, extending the cooperation with the contractor already operating on site.
