Theatrical performance: “Roots That Blossom On” … the branch may perish, yet the root stays alive…
CORFU. Saturday 23 May at 20:30 at Anemomylos Park Theatre.
Anemomylos Cultural Society, in collaboration with DIPETHE Corfu, will present a beautiful cultural event/performance featuring traditional folk songs and dances from the heritage of our island tomorrow, Saturday, May 23 at 8:30 PM at the Anemomylos Park Theatre with free admission for the public.
Participating in the performance are:
- the Corfu Branch of the Lykio Ellinidon,
- Kato Garouna Cultural Society,
- Kinopiastes Kindergarten.
Composer Spyros Tsilibaris will speak about the musical tradition of Corfu.
Petros Gallias will read excerpts from folk songs including Akritic songs, narrative ballads (Paraloges), short folk songs (Lianotragouda), and love couplets — from the book The Songs of Corfu Through Its Folk Customs and Traditions by Stefanos Poulimenos.
