Department of Musical Studies: Double Baroque Concertos at the Ionian Academy

CORFU. A Mediterranean musical collaboration of five Spanish and five Greek soloists with the Ionian University Symphony Orchestra.

The visit of six distinguished Spanish professors from  Castellon  ‘Salvador Seguí’ Conservatory and ‘La Manza’ Conservatory will conclude in a festive way. The visitors are being hosted from 26th February to 2nd March by the Ionian University Department of Musical Studies.

On Friday 2nd March at 20:00 at the Ionian Academy, five Spanish and five Greek soloists will collaborate with the Ionian University Symphony Orchestra in a festive concert with Double Baroque Concertos, sealing in this way the close collaboration over the last few years between the two Spanish Conservatories and the Ionian University Department of Musical Studies.

The visit of the Spanish professors to Corfu is part of the programme of the Mediterranean Network for Music (www.medne4music.weebly.com), founded by the Ionian University Department of Musical Studies two years ago, aiming to develop collaboration among the Mediterranean superior conservatories.

Professor Miquel Angel Navarro Gimeno – ‘Salvador Seguí’ Conservatory.

Soloists:

Trumpet: Professor and Dean of ‘La Manza’ Conservatory, Jose Antonio García, and the distinguished Corfu soloist Socrates Anthis.

Flute/Oboe: Ria Grigoriadou, Ionian University, and Professor Rafael Cuellar Frances, ‘Salvador Seguí’ Conservatory.

Violin: Alternate Professor Spiros Gigontis, Ionian University, and Professor Paloma Pierzchala , ‘La Manza’ Conservatory.

Cello: Professor Eduardo Gonzalez Lopez, ‘La Manza’ Conservatory and Alternate Professor Yiannis Tsoulis, Ionian University.

Continuo: Alternate Professor Katerina Michopoulou, Ionian University.
