Restoration of the Villa Rosa

CORFU. This historic building, which has been in ruins for years, is to become a centre for cultural events following its restoration. The agreement to prepare a restoration study was signed on Tuesday by the regional governor.

The Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Theodoros Galiatsatos, signed the agreement to commission a study – ‘Villa Rosa-Corfu: Building Restoration Study’ – along with representatives of the research contractors, at the Regional headquarters.

On March 29th, 2016 three preliminary studies were approved by the Regional Finance Committee and now, following the present agreement, the remaining stages will proceed. These are the final detailed design and the request for tender documents etc. for the restoration study for the Villa Rosa, which has to be fully in line with the recommendations of the competent bodies (archeology, environment, etc.). In the meantime, a file will be prepared for the necessary building permission.

The cost of the Villa Rosa restoration study comes to 202,202.53 Euros plus VAT.

The deadline to complete the remaining stages of the study has been set at three months and within the next 10 days the research contractors will submit a detailed timetable for approval.
