CORFU. The deputy leader of the criminal organisation will appear before the Investigator this afternoon.

Two members of the Greek-Albanian cocaine trafficking gang were remanded in custody with the unanimous agreement of the Investigator and Prosecutor following their testimonies.

The individuals in question are a 45-year-old Albanian woman who played the role of "caretaker" in Corfu and belonged to the leadership core of the criminal organisation, and a 36-year-old Albanian man. Both of them were brought before the Investigator yesterday afternoon in a proceeding that lasted until late at night, when the decision for their temporary detention was made.

Today, Thursday, the alleged deputy leader of the gang is being called to present his defence. The 32-year-old Albanian orchestrated operations from within, as, despite being incarcerated in the Trikala prison, he organised the transportation of narcotics from Athens to Corfu.

The investigative process concludes on Saturday with the alleged 'mastermind' of the organisation, a 38-year-old Albanian.

Five remanded in custody

So far, five individuals from the large criminal organisation have been remanded in custody, while two Greeks, aged 36 and 39, as well as two locals - a discharged police officer and a woman - were released with restrictive conditions, including the additional requirement of bail.
