Police crack down on road racers

CORFU. 74 violations from 195 vehicles checked - 5 driving licenses removed and 7 vehicle registrations
Corfu Traffic Police carried out checks between Friday night (2/10) and early Saturday morning in an effort to crack down on road races.
The checks were carried out along Corfu-Paleokastritsa Rd, Corfu-Kassiopi Rd and Corfu-Lefkimmi Rd. 195 vehicles were checked and the following 74 violations found.
- 12 speeding
- 4 road racing
- 2 noise violations - no silencers
- 1 dangerous driving
- 2 not wearing crash helmets
- 1 not using seat belt
- 1 overtaking violation
- 4 MOT violations
- 6 without licences
- 3 without insurance
- 38 other violations
5 driving licences were removed and 7 had registration and number plates removed. 3 vehicles were immobilised.
Checks are continuing in other areas of Corfu.
