CORFU. Races, ΄wheelies΄ and the roar of exhausts disturb the night peace (as much as there can be peace in Corfu in the summer). Gouvia residents have repeatedly complained to police about what happens at night on the straight sections of road and from one set of traffic lights to the next.
Traffic police were waiting at the section between the hospital junction and the supermarket early on 15 August and caught them.
According to the police statement, four people aged 26, 19, 20 and 19 were arrested early on Thursday 15 August for disturbing the safety of public transport, dangerous driving and riding a bike without a licence.
The 26-year-old was riding a motorbike without a licence in a dangerous way liable to cause an accident. The two 19-year-olds and the 20-year-old were riding motorbikes without licences.
The Traffic Police are interrogating the four persons and the motorcycle belonging to the 26-year-old has been seized. The other three have been prohibited from using their bikes.
