CORFU. Following the total darkness that existed due to the creation of the cycle path next to the New Fortress the street lighting will now be reinstalled.
The removal of the lights in order to create space on the pavement for the cycle path meant that there was no public lighting along this entrance to the town. A blinding spotlight was placed on the bend before the open-air market which blinded all the drivers coming into town along the street.
The contractor is now placing lights - the latest technology - along the wall. In time for the pre-election period...
