8th Hellenic-Bulgarian Rally LEKAM – 2018 in Corfu

They will set off from Liston Square on Saturday 26^th May at 11:00 – doing a great job of promoting Corfu and Greece internationally!  
 
Everything is set for the authentic 8^th Hellenic-Bulgarian Rally LEKAM on 26^th and 27^th May. The event is being organized by LEKAM (Classic Car Club of Macedonia, Greece), under the aegis of Corfu Municipal Culture, Sports and Environment Organization (DOPAP). LEKAM, based in Thessaloniki, is one of the greatest Classic Car Clubs in Greece and Europe and organizes important motorsport events both domestically and internationally.  
 
The start of this famous Rally will take place on both days from Corfu’s most central spot, Liston Square, at 11:00 - broadcasting images of Corfu and Greece all over the world, as the event is of international interest and includes several participants from throughout Europe (Greece, Bulgaria, UK, Macedonia, Germany etc).
 
For 4 days, these ‘little ladies’ - from 50 to 82 years old - will cover hundreds of miles all over Corfu, in a race of iron nerves and high doses of adrenaline.
 
Set-off – Award Ceremony – Car Display
 
All lovers of classic cars and Corfu residents will have the chance to get a close look at these rare cars (from 1932 to 1986), which present the history of the car in the 20^th century, at the following times and places:
 
Liston Square: 1^st Day, Saturday 26^th May - 11:00–12:30
 
Liston Square: 2^nd Day, Sunday 27^th May - 11:00–12:30
 
Liston Square – Spianada: Award Ceremony, Sunday 27^th May - 19:00-22:00 in the People’s next to the Palace.
 
Everyone will also be able to admire the classic cars along the routes on the 1^st and 2^nd Days (Saturday & Sunday 26^th-27th).
 
This important motorsport event in Corfu is being organized under the aegis of DOPAP, FIVA (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens) and the Hellenic Federation of Friends of Old Cars & Motorcycles (EO-FIPLA). It is supported by the International Body of Culture and Sciences – ‘Perrevia’ Network (Thessalia, Greece), in collaboration with which LEKAM organizes the Historical Olympus Rally every year at the beginning of October. This latter event has been running for 7 years now and attracts both Greek and international crews from all over Europe.  
 
The island of the Phaeacians is the ultimate tourist destination this year for LEKAM.
 
Magical Routes
 
On the first day (Saturday 26^th) the classic vintage cars will follow a route in Northern Corfu going towards Kassiopi. On the second day (Sunday 27^th) the route goes towards the Lefkimmi area, passing through all the intermediate villages and communities.
 
This year, the Rally is coming to the beautiful island of Corfu, the island of the Phaeacians, with its unique landscapes and history, famous local products, unique buildings and hospitable residents, giving the chance to the Greek and international crews to discover this ultimate tourist destination with its high-quality tourism services.
