Three buildings burnt down at Lefkimmi landfill

The Fire Service responded immediately to a call from the police. It is not yet known what the cause of the fire was nor by whom it was started. Police sources say that they are certain it was a case of arson - the facility is not guarded by either the Municipality or the police!

The buildings that were destroyed housed the facility's equipment - consoles, nets and generators.

The Corfu Fire Department Investigation Unit will be looking into the incident and according to the latest information, the Prosecutor will be ordering the police and Fire Service to work together and treat it as a criminal investigation.
