Corfu Seamen NOT on strike on May 1. Strike now on May 6
CORFU. Ferry services will run as normal on May 1. The Corfu Seamen΄s Union issued the following statement:
"We would like to make it known that we cannot take part in the 24-hour strike that has been declared for May 1 even though the board and members endorse its purpose.
The island of Corfu is a leading destination and when the date of a strike falls in Easter Week or the week following Easter it creates a lot of problems due to the large number of passengers and vehicles.
It is known that we are always in the front line when fighting for seamen's rights and so we confirm that we will be holding a 24-hour strike on Monday 6 May from 00:01 to 24:00 supporting the demands of the Panhellenic Seamen΄s Federation (PNO) and the local union."
