Choir from Niš, Serbia meets with Corfu Mayor at Old Town Hall

CORFU. The choir is taking part in the 2nd Choir Festival being organized by ΄Ai Mathias΄ Arts Society, the Municipal Cultural, Sports & Environmental Organization (DOPAP) and the Ionian Islands Regional Administration.

The Niš Mixed Choir met with the Mayor of Corfu Kostas Nikolouzos this morning at the Old Town Hall.

The Serbian choir is in Corfu to take part in the 2nd Choir Festival being organized by 'Ai Mathias' Arts Society, the Municipal Cultural, DOPAP and the Ionian Islands Regional Administration.

The Serbian singers passed on greetings from their town, thanked the Mayor for meeting with them and expressed their pleasure at being in Corfu. They referred to the ties between the two peoples and said that Corfiots were not only their friends but real brothers.

The Mayor welcomed them to the Old Town Hall and thanked them for their visit. "We will always maintain our friendly relations with the Serbian people. We understand that we have a responsibility to pass on this relationship to future generations, not only in honour of the past but to build the future. It is not just by chance that throughout history our peoples have always been on the same side." Mr Nikolouzos told them to feel at home here in Corfu.
