CORFU. Yiannis Himarios is back on the island following his hospitalisation at KAT in Athens.
The popular Corfu 'character' Yiannis, who was victim of a hit and run accident in Alexandras Ave, has had the necessary surgery and was discharged on Tuesday following 10 days hospitalisation.
Apart from their anger at the insensitive driver, whom the police are still seeking, the Corfu public have been extremely supportive towards Yiannis and his brother, who has been at his side. Afra Cultural Society showed its support in a practical way by donating a special bed for him.
Nevertheless, Yiannis will have to remain in bed for at least two months and it will be a difficult convalescence. His brother Dionysis and his family have taken on complete responsibility for him - special diet, medical equipment and supplies, physiotherapy etc.
It should be noted that Dionysis Himarios told Enimerosi that none of the so-called collections have reached his brother - all he has seen is a small amount in the bank account that was publicised at the beginning.
