CORFU. The mistral (maestros) wind on Good Friday could save the impressive Corfu Easter celebrations from rain.
Despite the National Meteorological Service's forecast of inclement weather, it is more than likely that this won't have such a great effect in Corfu on Good Friday and Easter Saturday for the spectacular Easter events.
It is expected that the weather will worsen from the evening of Holy Thursday (5/4) in the northern and western mainland and the Ionian Islands with rain and occasional thunderstorms during the night.
On Good Friday there will be rain throughout almost the whole of the country with thunderstorms on the mainland in the afternoon and evening.
In Corfu, however, the mistral (maestros) wind expected on Good Friday means less likelihood of rain except for perhaps the evening, when there is the possibility of light rain during the Epitaphios ceremony. The weather will improve on Saturday morning although jackets will be required in the evening and at night.
