Corfu Food and Wine Festival is ‘cooking’!

The meeting was to discuss the Food and Wine Festival, which is taking place 9^th – 13^th May this year. The aim of the festival is to promote gastronomy as an important part of Corfu’s cultural history.

The festival is scheduled to take place at the start of the tourist season so that the promotion of Corfu as a culinary destination can help boost the beginning of the season.

The following were present at the meeting:

-          - Regional Corfu Division (Nikoletta Pandi, Deputy Regional Governor)

-          - A representative from the Ionian University

-         -  Corfu Professional Tourism Organization (Kostas Tzoumanis, Vice-President)

-          - Union of Corfu Hoteliers (Haralambos Voulgaris, board member)

-          - Corfu Federation of Tourist Accommodation Owners (Pericles Katsaros, President and Spyros Michalef, board member)

-          - HATTA (Vassilis Kontos, board member)

-         -  AOCTA (Dimitris Moutsos, board member)

-          - Corfu Union of Hoteliers (Alexandros Anemoyiannis, President)

-          - Corfu Business Association (Christos Lavranos, board member)

-          - Restaurant & Related Professions Association (Pericles Katsaros, President)

-         -  Corfu Chefs’ Club (Spyros Voulismas, President)

-         - IEK College of Tourism (Dimitris Bakiris, Director)

At the meeting it was decided to set up four working groups.

The Festival will be held under the auspices of the National Tourism Organization (EOT).
