CORFU. The pipeline serves the community of Kavadades (Beretta – Kokkinos) and part of the communities of Arillas and Afionas.

(North Corfu Municipality) The serious damage to the main water supply pipeline, which serves the community of Kavadades (Beretta – Kokkinos) and part of the communities of Arillas and Afionas, has been successfully repaired.

The fault involved a serious blockage in the main pipe, which necessitated immediate technical intervention to restore the normal water supply to an extensive part of the network. The intervention covered over 1,500 metres of piping and was carried out directly by the crews of the Municipality and the North Corfu DEYA.

The presence and active contribution of the following individuals were crucial:

  • Vassilis Salvanos, President of DEYA North Corfu

  • Spyros Aspiotis, President of the Development Agency of the Municipality of North Corfu

  • Nikos Louvros, President of the Community of Kavadades

  • Antonios Avlonitis, President of the Community of Armenades

  • Nikos Goudelis, Vice President of Magoulades

The swift mobilisation of all involved parties and the coordinated cooperation at the level of the Municipality, DEYA, and local communities led to the rapid and effective resolution of the problem, preventing further inconvenience for residents and visitors of the affected areas.

The Municipal Authority and DEYA North Corfu assure the public that they are continuing their efforts responsibly and persistently to safeguard and continuously improve the water supply network, which is largely outdated, inadequate, and has been neglected for years.

We are — and want to be — judged by the speed and effectiveness with which we repair faults, but not for the long-standing neglect of an antiquated network, which requires a consistent and investment-oriented strategy.

Given the collective effort to address problems, we once again call on citizens to be consistent in meeting their financial obligations (DEYA bills), so that we in turn can respond promptly and effectively to the needs that arise — many of which demand immediate action and come with a high cost.
