CORFU. Following the invitation from the Lefkimmi Cultural Society, the Temploni organization has also invited people to attend the waste management protest rally on Friday at 18:00 at the Municipal Theatre.
Announcement / Invitation
Our Society, which is also participating in the waste management Protest Rally organized by local bodies and organizations, invites members and residents to come and take part at the Municipal Theatre on Friday 9th March at 6pm because we can only do it ALL TOGETHER.
Our demands:
- Central national planning for waste management
- A public university should be assigned the study for the location of the new Integrated Waste Management facility (factory-landfill-recycling).
- Make resources and information available, as well as incentives, for an extensive recycling programme so as to reduce the amount of waste and gain recycled materials. Recruitment of the necessary permanent staff and implementation of health and safety regulations.
- Close and relocate the Temploni landfill and prohibit the operation of the Lefkimmi landfill.
- Private entities to be prohibited from participating at all stages of the process (collection, transportation, recycling).
- No increase in local taxes.
- Those responsible for the current state of the waste management to accept direct responsibility.
