Dozens of trees blown down by the strong winds in Corfu

CORFU. Dozens of trees have fallen throughout the island since last night because of the strong winds. Several of these fell on electricity cables, causing power cuts, whilst others have blocked roads.
In addition to trees, metal sheets, wooden items and signs were also blown down. The Fire Service was able to remove these and they told us that fortunately, there were no injuries and no serious damage has been done.
The Fire Service has been called out to 23 incidents since yesterday – 18 of these for fallen trees – and is still receiving calls.
