Corfu Socio-medical Centre now has a paediatrician – after two years
CORFU. After two years, a paediatrician has now been appointed at the socio-medical centre (IAK).
The 6th Regional Health Administration announced the appointment of a paediatrician to IAK (ex-PIKPA), thus filling the gap that had been left following the retirement of the previous specialist, Ms Mandila. Over the last two years, the position had been covered by specialists in general medicine, so the appointment is a necessary and well overdue addition to the Centre.
Corfu Socio-Medical Centre (IAK) is located in the Corfu PEDY Medical Centre (ex-IKA). The Centre offers a range of Preventative and Primary Healthcare services and the Advisory Unit offers the following:
- Vaccinations for all – all insurance funds are accepted, as well as those who are uninsured, on welfare insurance, Roma etc.
- Body measurements and monitoring of the psychokinetic development of infants, children and adolescents.
- Issuing of vaccination certificates and re-issuing certification from the IAK archives (which have been kept systematically – both electronically and handwritten).
- Issuing support documents for nurseries, childcare centres, primary and secondary schools.
- Advice to parents about children’s diet and development.
- Group BCG vaccinations (by appointment, for children that haven’t been vaccinated at school).
- Health Reports for pupils and certificates for sports activities, camps etc.
- Pathology-Paediatric Clinic where children can be examined on a daily basis.
