Close collaboration between Municipality and Restaurant Association for clean town
CORFU. Present at the meeting were Deputy Mayor Pantelis Giannoulis, representatives of the Cleaning Department, and Nikos Latsas, Vice President of the Restaurant Association.
In a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding, a meeting was held between the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Corfu Restaurant Association, focusing on the management of waste generated by food service establishments.
The meeting took place between the Deputy Mayor, Pantelis Giannoulis, officials from the Cleaning and Recycling Department, and the Vice President of the Corfu Restaurant Association, Nikos Latsas, confirming their intention for close and meaningful cooperation.
The shared objective of both sides is compliance with the Cleanliness Regulations and the proper management of generated waste, with emphasis on recycling and improving the daily image of the town and its communities.
During the meeting, the need to strengthen cooperation between them was agreed upon, and specific practical steps were discussed, such as:

Schedule for waste collection,

Most appropriate method for collecting recyclables and mixed waste,

Routes of municipal vehicles within the framework of the “door-to-door” system for the collection of mixed waste, recyclables, and glass,

Designation of specific disposal points for food service establishments,

Scheduling of on-site inspections in areas experiencing increased burden,
-
Detailed briefing of business owners on the applicable articles of the Regulations and the final procedure for waste collection.
Representatives of the Department and the Restaurant Association exchanged concerns and views, while proposals were submitted aiming at a smoother and more efficient waste collection process, for the benefit of all.
The positive climate and consensus recorded create optimism for the successful implementation of the agreed measures. The Department of Cleaning and Recycling is planning similar meetings with other public and private bodies, with the aim of building relationships of trust and cooperation, for a tidy and clean image of our island.
