Enimerosi cuts its New Year΄s cake

CORFU. A celebration filled with light, memories, and absences that cried out with presence.

There are moments when the news cycle briefly comes to a halt and gives way to substance. This year’s cutting of Enimerosi’s New Year’s cake, held in the welcoming and historic space of the Plus booksthop, was precisely such a moment: an opportunity to meet face to face and appreciate the value of being together.

Within an atmosphere of warmth and familiarity, our gathering became one big embrace. Old friends and collaborators—academics, journalists, and photojournalists, people who share the same daily reality and the same passion—came together as one.

At that moment, titles, positions, and professional roles lost their significance. What mattered was the warmth of the encounter. Yet behind the smiles and good wishes, there was something deeper: our thoughts kept returning insistently to those who were not present.

Beloved people, valued collaborators, and dear friends who were absent…

And yet, their memory was so vivid, their presence so strongly felt among us, that you had the sense that if you turned your head, you might see them smiling at us from a corner of the bookshop. As if they were there—silent companions in our joy—reminding us that bonds built on respect and love are not bent by absence.

It was a genuine celebration, one of those that remind us that Enimerosi is, above all, its people.

May we all be well in the year ahead, may we continue to meet, and may we always keep alive within us those who taught us what it means to walk together.
