CORFU. The streets of Corfu Town came alive with a melodic party — philharmonic bands, STAN, and Christmas magic!

A festive event “The Town Celebrates” was held on Monday evening, 29 December, organised by the Corfu Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Trade Association and the Corfu Catering Association, under the auspices of the Municipality of Central Corfu.

Its purpose was to infuse the town with a festive atmosphere through a celebration of shopping and entertainment, aiming to support the local market and showcase the vitality of Corfu’s business community.

Within a festive setting, the town was filled with music, light, and a celebratory atmosphere, while retail shops remained open until late, inviting the public to enjoy a pleasant stroll through the market.

Philharmonic bands and choirs presented short performances at various points throughout the town centre, while activities for children were also held, including a children’s puppet theatre by “Treis Laloun,” featuring the play “The Vourvoulakas and the Tree of the Earth.”

This was followed by a Christmas party featuring elves, dancing, music, songs, and bubbles.

Throughout the evening, ample servings of mulled wine, hot chocolate, and loukoumades were offered.

The performance locations included:

Mitropolitou Methodiou (Masoutis), Porta Reale, Koukounara, Annunziata, G. Theotoki (Karmelas Pharmacy), and Agios Spyridon Square (Plakada).

The following philharmonic bands participated:

The Corfu Philharmonic Society, the “Mantzaros” Philharmonic Society, and the Philharmonic Union.

Capodistrias Philharmonic Band, Kynopiastes Philharmonic Band.

And the choirs: Corfu Cantata, Corfu Epirus Association Choir, Agios Matthaios Choir, Evropoula Choir, Anemomylos 'Thomas Flanginis' Cultural Society Choir.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m., STAN Antipariotis, accompanied by his band and Nasia Syrakou, took the stage in Annunziata Square, and the party came alive.
