Boats collide off Agios Stefanos Avlioton

CORFU. A woman suffered minor injuries.
On Thursday afternoon, August 22, a motorised dinghy collided with a professional tourist vessel in the waters near Agios Stefanos Avlioton.
Two people, both British nationals, were on board the dinghy, while the tourist vessel carried six passengers, including four British nationals and two crew members. The dinghy was safely escorted back to the port of Agios Stefanos by a Coast Guard patrol boat that arrived on the scene to provide assistance.
The collision caused minor injuries to a woman on the dinghy and resulted in damage to both vessels. The injured woman was taken to a private clinic for medical treatment.
Corfu Central Port Authority, which is conducting the investigation, arrested the captains of both vessels—the 54-year-old dinghy operator and the 62-year-old tourist vessel captain—for violating Article 314 of the Penal Code, concerning bodily harm caused by negligence. Both vessels have been prohibited from sailing until they obtain seaworthiness certificates from the relevant authorities. No marine pollution was reported following the incident.
