Combating red palm weevil
CORFU. The annual application of insecticide micro-injection (Tree Micro Injection – TMI) has been completed - a method with minimal interference or disturbance to the trees, the general public, and the environment.
(Central Corfu Municipality) The Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipal Green Spaces & Cemeteries Department issued the following announcement:
The Green Space Maintenance Division, as part of its efforts to combat the red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) in palm trees located in public areas, has completed the annual application of insecticide micro-injection (Tree Micro Injection – TMI), a method that causes minimal interference or disturbance to the trees, the general public, and the environment.
Treatments have been carried out in the following areas:
Psychiatric Hospital Square, Agioi Pateres, Flagginio, Airport Islets, Garitsa Park – Anemomylos, Methodiou (Fronimou Square), Square on Parga Street, Maraslio, National Memorial Square (New Fortress entrance), Old Town Hall Square, the square next to Gardikioti Street in Mantouki, and Ipsos Beach.
