Mosquito control programme April 23-26

The Ionian Islands Regional Authority, via an announcement by the appointed Health and Education Advisor, G. Zikos, has announced the mosquito control programme for the Regional Unit of Corfu.

Wednesday April 23

Spraying in mosquito larval breeding sites in districts in the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands.

Thursday April 24 to Saturday April 26

Ground spraying in mosquito larval breeding sites in the districts in the Municipality of South Corfu.

Municipal Unit of Paleokastriton (23/04)

• Paleokastritsa Area: Ditch near the Paleokastritsa National Road, close to Carburi Estate

• Liapades Area: Ditch near Hotel Avra

Municipal Unit of Parelia (23/04)

• Kanakades Area: Ditches at the entrance to Kanakades, past the cemetery, and on the road to Marmaro

• Marmaro Area: Ditches on the road out to Giannades and along the route to Giannades

• Giannades Area: Ditches toward Ermones and on the route to Ermones

• Ermones Area: Ditch at the beach and stagnant water in the main stream in Ermones

• Kokkini Area: Ditches before the intersection to Agios Ioannis – Ropa Valley

• Agios Ioannis Area: Ditch on the exit to Afra

• Afra Area: Ditch on the exit from Afra toward Evropouli

Municipality of South Corfu

Municipal Unit of Lefkimmi (24/04)

• Kritika Area: Ditches before and within the settlement

• Paleochori Area: Ditches before, within, and at the exit of the settlement toward Lefkimmi

• Kavos Area: Ditches at the entrance to Kavos near Alex Studios, toward Asprokavos, across from Hotel Mediterranean Blue, behind Chandris Apartments and Hotel Cavomarina

• Lefkimmi Area: Ditches to the right of Lefkimmi Port, across from Masoutis supermarket, toward Bouka Beach near Antonia Beachfront Villa, Agia Aikaterini Street, the salt pans (Alykes), K.P.A., Gardenos Beach before the beach and near Baratos Tavern

Municipal Unit of Korissia (25/04)

• Perivoli Area: Ditches at Kalyvioti Beach near Adrianna Studios, near Panorama Beach House, within the settlement from several entrances, toward Santa Barbara Beach near Sgouris Villa, at the cemetery, Santa Barbara Beach near Malta Tavern, near Tasia Studios, Marathias Beach near Vrachos Tavern and Fisheye Tavern

• Agios Nikolaos Area: Ditches at the entrance, exit towards the south and exit toward Petriti

• Petriti Area: Ditches within the settlement, at the beach near Mythos Tavern, near Limnopoula Tavern, and at the exit to Boukari

• Agios Georgios Argyradon Area: Ditches within the settlement, near Orange store, Villa Estia, Kafesas Tavern, Esperando Supermarket, Tzevenos Restaurant, and both sides of Villa Sandy

Municipal Unit of Melitieon (26/04)

• Messonghi Area: Ditch at the entrance from Psaras

• Halikounas Area: Ditches within the settlement and stagnant water collection areas

• Agios Matthaios Area: Ditches toward Paramonas Beach, Skala, and on Paramonas Beach

• Moraitika Area: Ditch within the settlement toward the beach, near the Messonghi River

NOTE

In areas within the settlements, "larvicide tablets" will be placed in rainwater drains where deemed necessary.

The schedule may be adjusted depending on weather conditions or other significant factors.
