Ai Mathia Arts Society in South Albania

(Ai Mathia Arts Society) On Palm Sunday, the Ecclesiastical - Traditional group visited the village of Livadia in the Municipality of Finiq in South Albania (North Epirus), the Medieval Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Megalopolis, and the city of Sarandë.
The group was invited by President Annetta Gounti and the Board of Directors of the active 'Saint Kosmas' Cultural Association of the town of Livadia – Municipality of Finiq.
The Ecclesiastical - Traditional ensemble of our Arts Society, led and coordinated by Tzovani Petrakis, had the opportunity to chant religious hymns of the current liturgical season, as well as the Lazarus carols.
In addition to the town of Livadia, the delegation also visited the Medieval Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Megalopolis, as well as the Church of Saint Charalambos in the city of Sarandë.
During the brief remarks and speeches held at the large and beautiful Cultural Centre of Livadia, particular emphasis was placed on the significant contribution of cultural societies to the peaceful coexistence of peoples and the strengthening of friendship and solidarity between the neighbouring regions of the Southern Balkans — which are closely connected not only geographically but also historically. It was stated that this collaboration, which involved not only artistic but especially emotional elements, will continue. A series of future events has already been scheduled.
