Conditional extension of music regulations

CORFU. The Municipality and the police aim to monitor the compliance of entertainment venues with the legal volume level of music.
The Municipality is proceeding with a mutual trust test with entertainment venue owners in the town for the days of Easter Week, regarding music volume and hours of operation.
When asked by Enimerosi, Mayor Stefanos Poulimenos reiterated that the main focus is on the volume of the music, and on the Police Director's assurance that any exceeding of the legal limit of 80 decibels will be monitored. This is to prevent violations as well as a potential “civil war” between business owners and the residents living near the venues.
If things go smoothly, the process to amend the regulation concerning music hours will begin immediately afterward.
The mayor stressed once again that even if the hours are extended, if there are any serious incidents, the new regulation will be revoked as quickly as possible, and everything will return to the current state—that is, music allowed only until 11:00 p.m.
