Deputy Mayor for Tourism: "First tourist flights of 2025 bring optimism"

CORFU. This year΄s season started dynamically with 11 flights, while the growing interest in Corfu is reflected in air and ferry arrivals as well as the boost in cruises.
On the occasion of the first flight of the tourist season at Corfu Airport on March 30, the Central Corfu Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Spyros Halikopoulos, made the following statement:
"On Sunday, we welcomed the first flight of the tourist season, Ryanair's flight from Cologne. The Municipality of Central Corfu, in collaboration with the Ionian Islands Regional Authority, the Municipalities of North and South Corfu, tourism organisations, and Fraport, organised a symbolic welcome event. Members of the 'Pegasus' Dance Group added a local touch with their traditional costumes, warmly offering passengers local products!
This year's season started dynamically with 11 flights, while the growing interest in Corfu is reflected in air and ferry arrivals, as well as the boost in cruises.
Both the airport, which serves as the island’s main gateway, and Corfu’s port are adapting to the ever-increasing number of visitors. At the same time, our tourism product has been upgraded, thanks to significant private investments over the past 15 years. As a result, we now have competitive and enhanced tourism, and we see that our island continues to attract new markets, as demonstrated at the ITB international exhibition.
This strong momentum creates a responsibility for both local authorities and the private sector to support Corfu’s image as a destination. Respect for visitors and the environment, sustainable management of natural resources, and waste management are crucial factors for the future of Corfu.
I wish everyone strength and a successful season!"
