VIENNA. Increased demand in Austria for pre-bookings for all the Ionian Islands.

(Ionian Islands Regional Authority) The Ionian Islands Region successfully participated once again this year, with its own pavilion in the Vienna International Tourism Fair, Ferien Messe 2025, which took place at the Vienna Exhibition Centre from January 16 to January 19.

According to data from the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) in Austria, arrivals of Austrian tourists to the Ionian Islands reached approximately 100,000 in 2024. This year’s tourism industry forecasts are particularly optimistic, as – according to data from tour operators – there is an increasing trend in pre-bookings for all the Ionian Islands (pre-bookings for Corfu alone have increased by 23% compared to 2024).

At the same time, the collaboration between the Ionian Islands Region Authority and the services of GNTO in Austria is continuing this year, focusing primarily on inviting Austrian journalists and other representatives of media and travel agencies to visit our islands.

The pavilion attracted a large number of visitors of all age groups, who expressed great interest in the Ionian Islands. Additionally, the pavilion was visited by tourism professionals, journalists, and the Commercial Attaché of the Greek Embassy in Austria, Yiouli Voyiatzopoulou. Nikos Manolakos, representing the Cephalonia Hoteliers Association, also attended the exhibition.

The supervision and support of the Ionian Islands Region pavilion were handled by Giorgos Papavlassopoulos, Head of Tourism for the Regional Unit of Corfu.
